Side to Side Twist:  Stand with legs shoulder width apart, arms bent comfortably while holding dumb bell and facing forward.  Twist to the right and then to the left with out stopping, as fast as you want to go while keeping ball in front of your chest at all times. Right to left is 1 repetition count.

Squats: Standing with legs shoulder width apart and toes pointing straight ahead.(12 o'clock), feet flat on floor. Hands resting on waist. Bend at the  hip  and knee as you lower your buttocks toward the ground slowly (like sitting in a chair) until reaching a 90 degree angle with the thighs parallel to the floor), and then slowly raise up to the starting position.

Sample of Nutritional Tips for Crohns Disease...

Nutritional Tips for Crohn’s Disease from Darren-

-While most diets are able to add flavor and spark to their meals, it has been my experience that living with Crohn’s Disease is best having a clean, lean and bland diet.  This helps me to avoid, or reduce, the flare up time I have when suffering from Crohn’s. The idea is to get as much nutritional rich items in your diet that your body will allow. Here’s the regimen I follow below:

-Drink lots of water and keep yourself well hydrated.

-No greasy, fried, or fast food.  Also, limit these foods in your diet because they tend to be high in sodium, which may cause bloating.  These types of food tend to be high in saturated fat, which can cause other health debilitating problems.  Don’t we have enough already!

-I have found that it helps to eat smaller than average portions, just eat them more frequently throughout the day.  This helps my energy level stay steady and allow me to get through my day.

- And of course…if it hurts your stomach…don’t eat it!!!

The following is a sample meal program that I follow.  Try a variation of the clean foods that your doctor might recommend:

Meal 1:  Sweet potato and egg white omelets with a banana

Meal 2: Albacore tuna in water with brown rice.

Meal 3: Sliced turkey breast ( the low sodium kind) on whole wheat toast with guacamole or hummus spread.

Meal 4: Toasted whole wheat bagel with creamy natural peanut butter and a handful of grapes.

Meal 5: Grilled chicken breast and brown rice with a romaine lettuce salad and light salad dressing.

Keep in mind this is only a sample meal plan. Everyone with Crohn’s Disease is different. For example, I weigh a lean 275lbs, but because of Crohn’s  I’m only able to eat around 2,000 calories per day .
